Photography has become an indispensable part of our life. It is our daily source of entertainment. No matter what we do, be it, going for a movie or to KFC or just a usual walk in the park, there is one thing we don’t ever forget, which is clicking pictures. Louis Daguerre had invented the daguerreotype, a photographic process. In the same year, on 19th August, Francois Arago, the 25th Prime Minister of France described the process of Daguerreotype. He called it the, “Gift that was free to the world”. France gave the world the art of photography and India gave the world a day to celebrate it. Every year, a theme is set for this day. People from all walks of life, irrespective of age, sections, professions or customs are welcomed to contribute. There are many online and offline photography contests organized by photographic societies. One such initiative had been taken by InspiriaTV.
“Creativity doesn’t wait for that perfect moment. It fashions its own perfect moments out of ordinary ones.”
– Bruce Garrabrandt
Inspiria TV presented an evening collaborating art and talent to commemorate World Photography Day. An ‘open to all’ contest inviting photographers and models from in and around Siliguri to come together and inspire with their artistic alliance. The theme for the photoshoot was “Inspire”. The best photographs were to be featured on Inspiria TV and the photographers of the winning photos would be awarded a cash prize. Mr. Surendra Pradhan who has worked as a still photographer under Little Earth Creative, Scotland as well as with Indian Railways was the Judge of the contest. There was an aggregate of 27 photographers and 25 models including various schools and fashion institutes.
The schedule for the photo-shoot was kept from 4:30 pm to 5:30 in the evening and little did the contestants know that there was a catch in the contest. The photographers had to click the pictures of all models that had partaken which was quite a challenging task to complete in 90 minutes. The catch in the event was to encourage the photographers and models to come out of their comfort zones and accept challenges and to create an unbiased photography contest. Numbers were assigned to all the models and photographers to keep a record.
The event organizers from Inspiria TV laid down the guidelines for the contest and it commenced with everyone heading out to the recreation ground in a queue. The partakers were restricted to the limited use of only the grounds to keep it unprejudiced. A complete multilingual perplexing situation arose when photographers started calling out the designated model numbers in a hurry as there was not enough time allotted. Many models were seen in their high heels frolicking around the campus with the lens-men to find a shoot-location and some running helter-skelter but amidst all that they were having fun. A student who had participated was also reported missing but found after half an hour thereby delaying the event by quite some time.
After the designated time period was up, the contestants retreated to the Seminar hall to escape the afternoon humidity and laptops were provided to dump five of the best pictures they had clicked in a Google folder. The results are to be declared on Monday.
Altogether it was a breath-taking creative experience that happened at the photography event at Inspiria Knowledge Campus. Inspiria Tv has yet again organized a successful event which had amassed innovative intellect from Siliguri and Darjeeling harmonizing with their motto:
“Educate and Inspire”
