Do you ever get that “Mission Completed” feeling when you successfully fool your siblings or your friend or anyone and the sheer happiness running through your veins? Of course, you do! You must be amazed at this fooling technique of yours and how easily the other fell for your trap!
The ending of March serves as the alert alarm for many so that they can stay aloof from being counted as the fooled ones! The April month commences by giving people the benefit and the right to fool others and derive immense joy and fun out of it, yelling “April Fools” at the end to clue in the subject of the April Fools’ Day prank (or to level up the joy meter you can wait till the time the other finds out on their own), making this day one of the most awaited one, especially among the youngsters. Do you all know how Spaghetti is made? Well, firstly they are plucked from the trees. Didn’t fall for this trap? Nobody would, in this present time but back in the year 1957 where Spaghetti was relatively unknown to the people in the United Kingdom, the BBC current affair programme telecasted a video about the Spaghetti-tree! This might sound like the craziest prank anybody has pulled off but let’s have a look at some of the Craziest Pranks to date starting with the Spaghetti-tree hoax.
- The Spaghetti-tree hoax: This prank is considered one of History’s Greatest April Fool Day pranks. Panorama, BBC current affair programme telecasted a 3-minute-long video about Spaghetti harvesting where people were seen plucking Spaghetti from bushes covered in spaghetti that was said to be drying in the sun after harvesting! This whole idea was of the programme’s cameraperson and almost all people who had seen the video fell for the trap, where some even called for enquiring about where could they find the Spaghetti bushes and how could they grow one!
Isn’t this similar to the belief that you all had once in your childhood about a tree growing inside your tummy if you swallowed the seeds!!! weird right!
- Playing a Game: Do you all remember the game that got people obsessed, the game where players’ eyes were glued to the screen of their smartphone, immersed in finding the Pikachus and Bulbasaur’s? Yes! The very “renowned” Pokemon Go! The game that became a global obsession first started as one of Google’s tricks on the public. The prize for the biggest collection of these? A job at Google as “Pokémon Master.”

- The Planetary alignment: It’s a universal fact that due to the Gravitational force in the Earth, people cannot float like the Astronauts do while they are up in space. But what if a prominent astronomer told you that you can experience the float experience? Most of the people would fall for this! And this is exactly what happened when BBC Radio 2 astronomer Sir Patrick Moore on 1 April 1976 gave listeners the news about how at 9:47 a.m., Pluto and Jupiter would align in such a way as to temporarily reduce Earth’s gravity and he told the listeners to jump at exactly that time to experience the once-in-a-lifetime effect. The best part being callers flooding the lines to share their experience of being briefly floated!! News that Moore had pranked them undoubtedly brought everyone crashing back to the earth!

The April Fool Day that has become an International Obsession doesn’t have an exact date as to mark its commencement but there’s a common theory about the tradition dating back to 16th Century France.
A day when you pull off the craziest pranks that you can think of and get to witness the variations of reactions from the other! Before pulling off any prank one must keep in mind the limits to any prank that is being played, Afterall each and everything has a limit set to it.
