Metamorphosis: Unlocking wellbeing through creativity.

A Journey Back to the Self

On the afternoon of March 28th, 2025, amidst the intensity of the third Continuous Assessment week, a unique event unfolded at Inspiria’s Inturf. Metamorphosis, a collaborative  initiative of the  Wellness team and School of Interior Design (BID,) was not just another gathering—it was a gentle invitation to pause, reconnect, and rediscover joy.

Metamorphosis was envisioned with a simple yet profound intention: to help students navigate the natural changes they undergo without losing touch with their true selves. College life is dynamic, often pulling students in multiple directions—academics, responsibilities, and expectations. The event was crafted to counterbalance this intensity, offering a space where students could embrace transformation while staying rooted in their essence.

The timing was significant—held during a period of academic strain, it became an oasis of relaxation, allowing students to break free from stress, even if just for a moment. As participants entered Inturf, they were greeted by a serene atmosphere with soothing music, infused water  and an open space designed for free expression. More than 30 students and some professors gathered, eager to explore what lay ahead.

Art became a medium of self-exploration. Participants engaged in creative expression, uncovering forgotten abilities and rekindling childhood joys that had been long buried beneath the pressures of academic life. Through colors, sketches, and free-flowing ideas, many found themselves tapping into  happiness they once knew but had since set aside.

Every participant indulged into retrospection amongst themselves and were able to express their free will and art intuitively. An experience that delved into a deeper meaning of self-understanding and expression. In addition, the environment was set up in such a way that it enhanced a safer and comfortable platform where everyone could be their true selves.

The event explored creating bookmarks from the daily affirmation messages we receive . It was an opportunity to transition from buying a bookmark to actually creating one. It was also an opportunity to sense into the emotions  and express them through the beauty of art.

The event wasn’t just about creativity; it was about holistic well-being. A series of mindfulness practices, including breathing exercises and gentle stretches, guided students into a deeper connection with themselves. These simple yet profound activities helped participants bring their awareness back to their bodies, emphasizing the importance of being present in the moment.

Before the event concluded, a minute of silence was observed—a moment of introspection where students reflected on their experiences. What followed was perhaps the most transformative aspect: a circle of gratitude. In this shared space, participants voiced their takeaways, reinforcing the significance of well-being and the need to make space for self-care amidst their busy schedules.

Metamorphosis was more than just an event—it was a reminder that relaxation, creativity, and self-awareness are not luxuries but necessities. In a college environment where academic demands often overshadow personal well-being, initiatives like these serve as a crucial intervention, helping students reconnect with themselves and manage stress in a healthier way.

For many, the experience was eye-opening. As students stepped out of Inturf, they carried with them more than just memories; they left with a renewed understanding of self-care, a rediscovery of joy, and a commitment to nurturing their well-being, one mindful moment at a time.
