Having a four legged, furry animal that can do everything according to our desires wasn’t the ultimate goal, the dogs are probably the best companions, in an unimaginable way. The pet industry has been experiencing explosive growth, the desire for expensive dogs is similar to having expensive cars and all other luxurious properties.

In most cases, the buyers look for a purebred dog and mongrels, mutts are ignored and considered to be a wrong option for domestication. The mutts are equally friendly and adorable as other breeds. There are multiple benefits of having a mutt in an affordable and reasonable price, unfortunately they are not valued, but do they really deserve it? As people do not emphasize on buying mixed breed dogs, National Mutt Day is celebrated to recognize their importance. Celebrity Pet Expert and Animal Welfare Advocate, Colleen Paige, founded National Mutt Day in 2005. It is celebrated on December 2 and July 31 of each year to embrace, save, commemorate the mixed breed dogs. Millions of homeless mutts await for the shelters to have a home of their own, as love is all they need. Despite being friendly, a mutt learns, obeys and can be trained much like purebred animals. The shelters provide healthy dogs for domestication and the injured and ailing ones are healed before making them ready for adoptions. There is no need for everybody to adopt a dog, but at least we can do our best by volunteering or participating and help them find their forever home as dogs love socializing and just a good hug makes their day and it will always bring them one step closer to find their family.

Happy National Mutt Day!
